Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg ICU

Location: Bronx, NY (10461)
Schedule: 40 hours/week | 8-hour shifts | Monday–Friday
Department: Medical/Surgical ICU


Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med/Surg ICU is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to critically ill adult patients. This role includes ongoing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation to support patient recovery in a high-acuity environment. The RN will collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and document findings according to professional standards.

  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and clinical priorities.

  • Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, monitoring, and therapeutic interventions.

  • Support physicians during procedures and respond to changes in patient condition promptly.

  • Utilize critical thinking skills to manage patients requiring intensive monitoring and treatment.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational guidelines.

  • Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, compliance standards, and evidence-based care practices.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience

  • Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience

  • Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking abilities

  • Proficiency managing high-acuity patients in a fast-paced environment

  • Effective communication, teamwork, and patient-advocacy skills


Education Requirements

Required:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program

Licenses & Certifications

Required:

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License

  • Primary Source Verification from the NYS Department of Education (NYSED)

  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Schedule Details

  • Hours per week: 40

  • Shifts: 8-hour day shifts

  • Days per week: 5

  • Priority given to RNs with experience in:

    • Med/Surg ICU

    • Mixed Med/Surg & ICU

    • Critical Care ICU

    • Step-Down ICU
