Job Duration: 6+ months with possible extension
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in supporting the health, safety, and overall well-being of high school students. This role involves direct nursing care, emergency response, chronic condition management, health education, and supporting students with special healthcare needs.
The LPN works under the direction of a Registered Nurse (as applicable) and collaborates closely with school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, and outside healthcare providers to help maintain a healthy learning environment.
Provide care for students with acute and chronic health needs.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments safely and accurately.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide first aid.
Maintain detailed and compliant student health records, including immunization tracking.
Assist in implementing and monitoring Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and 504 plans.
Deliver health education to students and staff on wellness topics.
Communicate effectively with parents, educators, and healthcare professionals.
Active and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
Current CPR/First Aid certification.
Experience in pediatric, school, or community health preferred.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
School health office setting with daily interaction with students, staff, and families.
Requires the ability to respond quickly to urgent or emergency situations.
