Job Title: Special Education Teacher (SPED) – Multiple Disabilities Program

Location: Leesburg, VA
Shift: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Duration: 20 Weeks (Contract)


Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students within a Multiple Disabilities program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who have significant and complex needs, including medical, physical, cognitive, and adaptive challenges. This role requires strong instructional skills, patience, and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary support team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).

  • Support students with complex medical needs, limited mobility, and significant developmental challenges.

  • Assist students with adaptive and self-care skills, including feeding, toileting, hygiene, and physical positioning.

  • Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, therapists, nurses, and related service providers.

  • Implement behavior strategies, routines, and supports that promote safety, independence, and student engagement.

  • Modify curriculum, classroom materials, and learning activities based on individual needs and goals.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, progress updates, and records per district and state requirements.

  • Communicate effectively with families, administrators, and the multidisciplinary team.

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.


Qualifications

Preferred

  • Valid Special Education teaching license

  • Experience working with students who have multiple disabilities or significant support needs

Considered

  • Long-Term Substitute (LTS) candidates with relevant classroom experience


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of Special Education practices, IEP implementation, and differentiated instruction

  • Ability to support students with medical, physical, and developmental disabilities

  • Familiarity with adaptive equipment, positioning strategies, and assistive technology

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

  • High levels of compassion, patience, and commitment to student success
