The Patient Care Associate (PCA) provides essential support to licensed nursing staff by assisting patients with daily care needs and ensuring a safe, comfortable environment. This role involves hands-on patient care, monitoring vital signs, and maintaining proper documentation.
Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding
Measure and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration
Support patient mobility, including repositioning, transfers, and ambulation
Promptly report any changes in patient condition to nursing staff
Respond to call lights and patient requests in a timely and professional manner
Assist nursing staff with tasks such as specimen collection and equipment setup
Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked patient care areas
Document patient care activities accurately in electronic or paper records
Follow safety and infection-control procedures consistently
Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients and families
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification as a Patient Care Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or equivalent (varies by facility)
BLS/CPR certification preferred or required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lift or assist patients safely
Demonstrated empathy, reliability, and teamwork
