Job Title: RN – Pediatric ICU (Preceptor Role)

An established acute care hospital in New York City is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric ICU to serve as a Nurse Preceptor within its high-acuity pediatric intensive care unit. This role is ideal for a clinically strong RN who is passionate about mentoring, education, and ensuring excellence in patient care and clinical practice.
As a Preceptor, you will play a key role in onboarding, training, and supporting newly hired nurses, helping them develop essential critical care skills while maintaining patient safety and clinical standards.
• Serve as a preceptor for up to two new RNs during their orientation and clinical integration.
• Provide instruction, guidance, and performance feedback on pediatric ICU protocols, procedures, and patient care standards.
• Ensure clinical accuracy and safety in all patient care activities, supporting new staff in avoiding common errors during orientation.
• Collaborate with Nurse Educators, Unit Leadership, and Clinical Teams to promote continuous learning and skill development.
• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients and their families.
• Minimum of 2 years of Maternal and Child Health experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of IV Insertion and Phlebotomy experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of Conscious Sedation experience.
• At least 5 years of relevant clinical experience required for the Preceptor role.
Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
• Active New York State RN License (verification through NYSED).
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
