Position Overview

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking Surgical/Operating Room Technician for an exciting job in Syracuse, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field before, during, and after surgical procedures.

  • Assist surgeons and the operative team by passing instruments, sponges, and supplies as needed.

  • Ensure proper handling, sterilization, and care of surgical instruments and equipment.

  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to promote efficiency and patient safety.

  • Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control standards.

  • Verify surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies before and after each procedure.

  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other OR staff.

  • Support patient safety through accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts.

  • Assist in room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent surgeries.

  • Follow hospital and departmental protocols while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of recent operating room experience (within the last 4 years) in an acute care facility of similar or higher level (Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center).

  • Strong scrub experience in general surgery and at least two specialty areas, such as:
    Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Trauma, Vascular, ENT, Bariatric, GU, or GYN.

  • Experience handling pediatric and/or adult surgical cases in a high-volume hospital environment.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a teaching hospital or trauma center.

  • Experience working day and evening shifts in surgical settings.

  • First-time travelers considered only if experienced in hospitals of comparable size.
