Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department

Location: Utica, NY 13502
Duration: 13 Weeks (Extendable)
Shift: 3×12-Hour Nights (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)

Pay: $2,577 Weekly Gross

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive care to patients in a fast-paced acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical judgment, critical care expertise, and the ability to manage a diverse patient population ranging from newborns to geriatrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Department for patients presenting with a variety of acute medical and trauma conditions.

  • Triage, assess, and manage patients with diagnoses such as stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.

  • Provide age-appropriate care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.

  • Operate and manage specialized emergency equipment, including Rapid Infusors and Arctic Sun cooling systems.

  • Administer emergency medications and perform life-saving interventions in accordance with protocols.

  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary staff to ensure timely, effective, and safe patient care.

  • Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately using the Epic EMR system.

  • Float to other units as required and assume charge responsibilities when needed (highly preferred).

  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety regulations, and infection control standards.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience, including pediatric exposure.

  • Strong skills in triage, critical thinking, and emergency response.

  • Proficiency with Epic EMR required.

  • Charge nurse experience highly preferred.

  • Willingness to float to other units as needed.

Education & Licensure

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required.

  • Active RN License – New York State (unrestricted).

Certifications (Required)

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)

  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

  • AHA PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

  • NIHSS (Stroke Certification)

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
