Title: RN Wound Care
Job Location: Brooklyn, NY
Duration: 13 weeks (extendable)
Shift: 12*3 Nights
Pay rate: $4,018 (Weekly Gross)
Education:
• Associates Degree (ASN, ADN) from an accredited Nursing Program.
Responsibilities:
• Minimum two (2) years of Med/Surg experience with wound and colostomy care.
• Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care while assisting in the selection of supplies, technology, and equipment.
• Assess and document patient responses to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatments.
• Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by the clinical staff on the unit.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team and make referrals to other disciplines as needed.
• Educate and counsel patients and families on wound, ostomy, and continence care and prevention.
• Provide and evaluate staff education programs, including new employee orientation and in-service training.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments for patients at risk of pressure injuries and implement preventive measures.
• Communicate and escalate any challenges, ethical concerns, or conflict resolution issues.
• Work closely with the Assistant Director of Nursing for Wound Care to recommend and implement best practices.
• Participate in unit and hospital-wide quality improvement activities, such as incidence and prevalence studies.
• Deliver culturally competent patient, family, and staff education consistent with diverse beliefs and values.
• Maintain security and confidentiality of patient data and comply with patient rights policies.
• Engage in professional development to maintain clinical competency.
• Identify community resources and assist patients in accessing them.
• Manage and track equipment assets, including specialty beds and negative pressure devices.
Certifications:
• New York State RN License
• AHA BLS
• Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) – WOCNCB
• Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) – WOCNCB
• Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) – WOCNCB
• Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) – ABWM
• Wound Care Certified (WCC) – NAWCO
