Job Title: Mechanical Lab Technician
Location: Waukesha, WI
Duration: 11-Month Contract
Pay Rate: $35/hr (W2)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Lab Technician to support lab operations for an advanced engineering team specializing in computed tomography systems. This role involves managing calibrated assets, supporting prototype fabrication and testing, and ensuring safe, efficient, and well-documented lab operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and track calibrated assets, ensuring timely calibration, proper documentation, and maintenance of calibration records.
• Investigate and document issues such as Out of Tolerance Notifications, Defects, and Overdue Calibrations.
• Support engineering investigations through CT gantry modifications, component installations, and custom test setups.
Fabricate prototype parts and test fixtures using lab machinery and hand tools.
• Maintain lab organization, including tool management, cleanliness, and adherence to EHS and safety standards.
• Assist with functional and reliability testing for prototype components and assemblies.
Record and review test results with mechanical engineers to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with engineers to provide feedback on designs and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) improvements.

Tools & Technologies:

• Proficiency with mechanical lab equipment such as waterjet cutters, CNC and manual mills, lathes, sheet metal brakes, and standard mechanical hand tools.
• Experience with calibration management systems and familiarity with regulated environments.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles.
• Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.

Required Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Hands-on experience in mechanical fabrication, testing, and lab operations.
