Job Title: Cardiovascular Cath Lab Tech
Location: Hackensack, NJ 07601
Unit: Cardiovascular
Duration: 13 Weeks (Extendable)
Shift: 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week
Pay Rate: $3,000 - $3,262 Weekly Gross
We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Cath Lab Tech to join a dynamic cardiovascular team in a leading acute care hospital. The ideal candidate will assist physicians during a variety of cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures while ensuring patient safety and maintaining the highest standards of sterile technique.
Prepare sterile trays and organize necessary equipment for each procedure.
Prepare patients prior to procedures, including attaching EKG leads, performing betadine scrub, and draping according to protocol.
Assist the cardiac catheterization nurse in patient preparation and monitoring.
Calibrate and test transducers for accurate pressure readings.
Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures, including:
Cardiac Catheterization
Angioplasty, Atherectomy, TEC, Rotablator, and Valvuloplasty
Intra-vascular Ultrasound, Pulmonary Angiograms
Insertion of Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps and various stents (coronary and biliary)
Operate power injectors and maintain standards for digital cine technologies, including image storage and retrieval protocols.
Download and manage all CD acquisitions to the hospital mainframe for intranet/internet review.
Support physicians and nurses during emergency procedures to maintain patient well-being.
Assist in sheath removal and insertion of vascular closure devices post-procedure.
Monitor and report inventory levels of non-store room supplies.
Participate in maintenance, calibration, and evaluation of all diagnostic and technical equipment.
Lift a minimum of 40 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 100 lbs., and stand for extended periods (minimum of 4 hours per day).
Provide patient care tailored to individual needs, considering age, culture, language, and physical limitations.
Adhere to institutional standards, safety protocols, and organizational competencies.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory or invasive procedure area in an acute care hospital.
6–12 months of experience during a CVT-accredited program or 2 years in another cardiac vascular laboratory.
Proficiency with computers, hemodynamic monitoring, and sterile operative techniques.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA) required
