Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Job Summary: The Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering radiation therapy to patients as prescribed and in accordance with regulatory guidelines. This role requires strong technical expertise in radiation therapy equipment, safety standards, and patient care. The therapist will work closely with physicians, patients, and the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective treatment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Deliver radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by physicians and in compliance with National Cancer Institute regulations.
Operate and maintain high-voltage, state-of-the-art radiation therapy equipment, including Co-60 units, Linear Accelerators, and Simulators.
Coordinate patient appointments and interpret physician prescriptions for treatment.
Perform pre-treatment procedures, including simulation for tumor localization, contouring, collecting physical factors for treatment planning, and capturing photographs for portal verification.
Take radiographic films to confirm treatment volumes.
Monitor and recognize radiation reactions, provide appropriate care and patient instructions, and ensure all safety measures are in place.
Maintain compliance with departmental and regulatory policies and procedures.
Record and maintain accurate treatment records and port films.
Participate in departmental in-service training and educational programs.
Coordinate departmental and in-patient activities to support quality patient care.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree (AAS) or completion of an AMA-certified program in radiation therapy.
Current RRT license.
Active New York State (NYS) license.
Minimum of 3–5 years of related radiation therapy experience.
Successful completion of pre-employment health clearance required.
Required Skills & Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in the field.
AAS or AMA certification in radiation therapy.
Current RRT license.
Current NYS license.
