Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to join a high-performing birthing unit that welcomes approximately 1,000 newborns annually. This role provides the opportunity to deliver patient-centered care to women and newborns throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum, while working alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum phases

  • Monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate equipment and interventions

  • Assist with vaginal, assisted, and cesarean births

  • Administer medications and manage IV therapy in accordance with provider orders and protocols

  • Support breastfeeding initiation and provide education to patients and families on postpartum and newborn care

  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and support staff to ensure safe and effective care

  • Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies with advanced interventions as needed

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR system

  • Participate in unit-based education, competencies, and continuous quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license (New York State or compact license, as applicable)

  • BLS and NRP certifications required

  • 1–2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred (strong Med/Surg or Women’s Health backgrounds considered)

  • Knowledge of obstetric, neonatal, and postpartum nursing standards

  • Experience with EMR systems (Epic preferred)
