Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) to join a fast-paced 46-bed Med/Surg inpatient surgery unit. This role involves providing comprehensive post-operative and acute care to a diverse patient population. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and time management skills in an environment with high patient turnover and frequent treatments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care to post-operative and acute medical patients with a focus on safety, comfort, and recovery.

  • Administer medications, including IV drips (e.g., Heparin), and provide effective pain management.

  • Monitor and document vitals (Q4h), intake/output (Q8h), and perform routine assessments.

  • Perform complex nursing procedures, including:

    • Wound vac management

    • NG/JP tube care

    • Chest tube maintenance

    • Traction support

    • Dressing changes

    • Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)

    • TPN & CAPD administration

  • Utilize MASIMO monitoring, bedside EKG, and bladder scanner equipment.

  • Document assessments, admissions, and care updates accurately in EPIC.

  • Conduct 2-RN skin and belongings checks for new admissions.

  • Collaborate with charge nurses, nursing assistants, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated patient care.

  • Manage patient flow and unit turnover efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license (state-specific as required)

  • Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support) – required

  • Experience: 1–2 years of Med/Surg nursing preferred, with familiarity in post-op and acute medical care

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with EPIC, MASIMO monitoring, and bedside diagnostic equipment

  • Soft Skills: Strong critical thinking, adaptability, communication, and time management
