Job Title: Medical Assistant

Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Assistant to support physicians, nurses, and patients in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The role involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities to ensure smooth operations, patient safety, and quality care.
Perform patient care duties including venipuncture, EKGs, vital signs, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and assisting physicians with procedures.
Prepare and maintain exam/procedure rooms in accordance with infection control and sterilization standards.
Accompany patients to exam rooms, assist with mobility and dressing, and relay physician instructions to patients and families.
Enter orders and prescription refill requests in the EMR for physician review and approval.
Complete clerical tasks such as obtaining and filing medical records, lab reports, hospital notes, and referrals.
Manage charts to ensure accuracy and completeness in EMR or paper records.
Maintain logs for medication refrigeration, sterilization, crash carts, and other compliance-related requirements.
Inventory, restock, and monitor expiration dates of medical supplies and medications.
Schedule appointments, surgeries, or procedures, verify insurance, and assist with pre-certifications.
Maintain HIPAA compliance and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety.
Provide excellent patient service with strong communication and cultural sensitivity.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
General office and clinical setting.
Requires physical activity including frequent walking, lifting, and assisting patients.
Exposure to blood, body fluids, chemical disinfectants, and other potentially hazardous materials (with appropriate PPE provided).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with multicultural sensitivity.
Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite; EMR experience preferred.
Excellent telephone etiquette and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing healthcare environment.
High School Diploma/GED required.
Completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate program required.
BLS Certification (AHA required).
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
