Job Title: RN – Case Manager / Utilization Review / CDI
Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: 13 Weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Day Shift | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM | 8 hours per day | 5 days per week | 40 hours per week
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Case Manager/Utilization Review/CDI to provide support across medical-surgical units, ICUs, and other departments. This position involves floating between campuses as needed and requires strong skills in case management, utilization review, and clinical documentation integrity.
Conduct utilization reviews to ensure medical necessity and compliance with payer requirements.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans.
Monitor length of stay and resource utilization to support appropriate patient outcomes.
Ensure documentation supports coding accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Provide education and support to clinical staff regarding case management and CDI practices.
Work across multiple units including med-surg and ICU settings.
Serve as a liaison between patients, families, providers, and payers to facilitate care transitions.
Adhere to hospital policies, patient confidentiality, and quality improvement standards.
Current New York State RN license (active and in good standing).
BLS certification (must be current or able to be recertified).
Minimum 1–2 years of recent experience in acute care case management, utilization review, or CDI.
Experience with EPIC EMR required.
ED case management experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Must not have had professional license/certification suspended or investigated.
Must not have been named as a defendant in a professional liability claim.
Must pass pre-employment health clearance, drug screening, and background check.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. required.
Required:
1+ years of acute care case management/utilization review experience
NYS RN license
BLS certification
EPIC EMR experience
Preferred:
Emergency Department case management experience
