Schedule: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Patient Transporter with at least 2 years of prior experience. The Patient Transporter is responsible for safely and efficiently moving patients, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility while ensuring patient comfort, dignity, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Clinical / Technical / Service Duties

  • Transport patients, supplies, equipment, medication, medical charts, specimens, and other necessary items.

  • Select and prepare the appropriate mode of patient transportation, including oxygen if required.

  • Introduce self to patients, explain the transport process, and confirm patient identification with ID band.

  • Assist caregivers in moving patients safely onto/off transport equipment.

  • Ensure patient charts accompany patients to designated areas.

  • Confirm patients are appropriately dressed and covered for transport.

  • Use designated elevators and routes for timely patient transfers.

  • Redistribute wheelchairs, stretchers, and other rolling stock.

  • Ensure transportation equipment is safe, clean, positioned correctly, and locked when stationary.

  • Maintain safety by keeping side rails up when indicated and ensuring essential bedside articles remain within patient reach.

  • Keep transport sheets updated and notify staff of patient movement status.

  • Communicate respectfully and collaborate effectively with healthcare team members.

  • Provide care appropriate to the patient’s age and condition, considering physical, psychosocial, and safety needs.

Organizational / Managerial Duties

  • Participate in departmental performance improvement activities.

  • Maintain strict patient and employee confidentiality.

  • Take part in staff/peer evaluations and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent (required).

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of patient transporter experience.

Skills:

  • Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
