Job Title: Pediatric Surgical Technologist

Duration: 3 Months(Extendable)

Work Location:- Syracuse, NY

Shift timing:- Variable shift (Days/ Eve)

 

Requirement:  Peds experience with BLS

 

Job Description:

  • Verify that machinery and supplies (e.g., pediatric airway devices, warming units, surgical instruments) are sterilized, operational, and appropriately sized.
  • Collaborate with the surgical and perioperative teams to confirm readiness and verify case-specific requirements.
  • Monitor sterile field integrity; ensure accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after surgery.
  • Assist with pediatric patient positioning, ensuring comfort, safety, and surgical accessibility according to age-appropriate protocols.
  • Contribute to a calm and reassuring environment for pediatric patients and their families.
  • Exhibit empathy and clear communication throughout the perioperative process.
  • Adhere strictly to aseptic, surgical scrub, and infection prevention protocols.
  • Maintain awareness of pediatric safety standards (e.g., smallest, gentlest techniques for IV lines, warming practices), and implement them consistently.
  • Maintain documentation of surgical tasks, counts, equipment usage, and any deviations—following established hospital standards.
  • Take part in department meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education related to pediatric surgical care.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist training program (preferred: pediatric specialization).
  • Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or eligibility for certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications—required or preferred.
  • Prior experience in a pediatric surgical setting strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with pediatric surgical anatomy, instrumentation, and age-specific workflows.
