Job Title: Surgical Coordinator
Location: New York, NY 10029
Duration: 12 weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Coordinator to manage and coordinate all operating room (OR) surgeries and procedures. This role ensures efficient scheduling, patient communication, and accurate documentation while serving as a liaison between patients, surgeons, and referring physicians.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule all OR surgeries and procedures.
Monitor front office workflow and make adjustments to ensure optimal service delivery.
Verify patient demographics and obtain pre-certifications from insurance carriers.
Secure medical clearance for patients prior to surgery or procedures.
Resolve patient inquiries regarding policies and procedures.
Place surgical confirmation calls one day before the scheduled procedure.
Schedule post-operative follow-up visits with providers.
Serve as the liaison between referring physicians and surgeons to share clinical data and determine OR scheduling.
Train and mentor other Surgical Scheduling Coordinators or junior staff.
Prepare, collect, and distribute necessary paperwork to internal and external parties.
Record hospital reservations and pre-admit data in the CERNER system.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum 2 years of surgical scheduling experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Education:
High School diploma required.
Associate’s degree preferred.
Preferred Certifications:
Certificate in Medical Technology.
Certificate in ICD-9 coding.
Certificate in CPT coding.
