Position Overview:

A healthcare facility in coastal Massachusetts is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a rewarding 13-week travel assignment. The CST will assist surgeons and RNs across various surgical specialties, with a strong preference for candidates who have orthopedic experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the operating room with instruments, drapes, sterile solutions, and necessary equipment.

  • Maintain strict sterile procedure compliance following AORN Standards of Care.

  • Scrub in for all specialties, assisting surgeons by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, cutting sutures, and assisting with counts.

  • Prepare, label, and handle surgical specimens accurately.

  • Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and transport.

  • Operate sterilization equipment and ensure instruments are in proper working condition.

  • Prepare and label medications as directed during procedures.

  • Participate in turnover and restocking of the OR for the next case.

  • Support orientation of new team members and collaborate effectively with the surgical team.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Operating Room/Surgical Technician program (civilian or military).

  • Must hold or obtain National Certification within 12 months of graduation (recognized by both the ACS and AST).

  • Current BLS Certification.

  • Orthopedic surgical experience strongly preferred.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

  • Prior travel or tertiary hospital experience preferred but not required.
