Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team for a 13-week contract assignment. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy operations within an inpatient setting and ensuring timely, accurate medication preparation and delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and process departmental medication orders.

  • Prepare medications for distribution, including sterile compounding and parenteral products.

  • Deliver medications to patient care units, including Schedule II–V controlled substances via Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC).

  • Maintain inventory by placing stock orders, monitoring expiration dates, and handling returns.

  • Order medications from authorized suppliers.

  • Pre-package and label bulk medications into unit-dose containers.

  • Perform non-clinical pharmacy tasks such as billing and documentation.

  • Issue and deliver non-controlled medications efficiently.

  • Process transactions using the Community Pharmacy Point of Sale (POS) system.

  • Assist in training and orientation of new pharmacy support staff.

  • Manage incoming calls and refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.

  • Ensure the pharmacy department is clean, organized, and compliant with safety and regulatory standards.

  • Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and required trainings.

  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and colleagues.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by pharmacy leadership.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Active Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician Registration.

  • National certification through PTCB or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 1 year of recent inpatient pharmacy experience (within the past 3 years); 3 years preferred.

  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
