Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 3x12-hour shifts/week
Hours/Week: 36 hours
Weekly Pay Rate: $1,818.50 (Travel Contract)
Schedule: Every other weekend required | 3 out of 6 holidays required

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced OB Scrub Technician for a 13-week contract at a busy Labor & Delivery unit in Neptune, NJ. This position is ideal for a multi-skilled professional who excels in maintaining a sterile surgical environment and supporting both direct and indirect patient care for antepartum and postpartum patients.

The OB Scrub Tech will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and be instrumental in preparing, assisting, and maintaining the surgical suite during obstetric and gynecologic procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist nursing staff with labor and delivery procedures.

  • Maintain sterile field and surgical technique during C-sections, D&Cs, hysterectomies, and other OB/GYN surgeries.

  • Set up surgical instruments and operative tables; perform and document sponge and instrument counts accurately.

  • Ensure readiness and cleanliness of OR, PACU, and Labor Rooms by stocking supplies and equipment.

  • Provide timely updates to RNs on patient status and unit needs.

  • Assist with safe transport and handling of patient belongings during transfers and discharges.

  • Remain calm and effective during emergent situations.

  • Ensure equipment is operational and properly sterilized.

  • Follow all infection control, Department of Health, and Joint Commission standards.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent – Required

Certifications:

  • Certified OB Technician – Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through AHA – Required

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an OB or Surgical Technician in an acute care setting – Required

  • 3 years total experience – Preferred
