Job Title: Patient Care Technician

Duration: 3 Months
Location: Neptune, NJ
Shift Timing: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 x 12-hour shifts)
Schedule: Weekends Required | Holidays Required

Job Summary:

The Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting registered professional nurses in delivering safe and effective care to patients. The role involves performing a variety of clinical and support functions as outlined below.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients and verify identification bracelets.

  • Prepare patients for assessments, physical examinations, and procedures.

  • Draw intravenous or capillary blood using proper aseptic technique for all age groups.

  • Perform EKGs as directed.

  • Ensure equipment is present, functional, and clean.

  • Assist in transporting patients to various departments or units.

  • Support patients during meals or feed as necessary.

  • Check and restock inventory as needed.

  • Prepare room environments for new admissions.

  • Provide hygiene and comfort care, including bathing, oral care, bed making, and toileting.

  • Record vital signs on admission and alert the RN of abnormal results.

  • Perform and document blood glucose tests and collect specimens as instructed.

  • Monitor and record daily patient weights and intake/output.

  • Respond promptly to call lights and report changes in patient conditions to the RN.

  • Deliver care tailored to the specific needs of patients (age, culture, language, etc.).

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams.

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a PCT or CNA in a hospital setting is strongly preferred.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Completion of a Patient Care Technician Program.

Required Certifications:

  • EKG Course Certification

  • Phlebotomy Course Certification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
