Job Summary:

Seeking a Rental Assistant to provide administrative and client-facing support for a Rental Assistance team within a public housing services department. This role is critical for ensuring efficient processing of rental support applications and maintaining communication with clients, landlords, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for individuals seeking rental assistance through phone, email, or walk-ins.

  • Assist with the intake and completion of rental assistance applications, including Section 8 and emergency housing programs.

  • Track application progress and manage associated documentation.

  • Enter and maintain accurate records using systems such as Excel, case management software, and housing platforms (e.g., Yardi).

  • Communicate effectively with applicants, landlords, and program staff regarding case updates.

  • Coordinate appointments and provide logistical support to caseworkers.

  • Generate routine reports related to application statuses, payments, and client outcomes.

  • Sort and distribute mail and other time-sensitive documents to appropriate personnel.

  • Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to all applicable housing and privacy regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in administrative or clerical support roles.

  • Strong customer service background, especially when working with vulnerable or diverse populations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Yardi or other property management systems.

  • Background in housing or social services programs.
