Job Title: Data Validation Engineer
Location: Remote
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Employment Type: Contract

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Data Validation Engineer for a 6-month remote contract role. This position plays a crucial role in supporting data remediation efforts, particularly in environments impacted by advanced persistent threats (APTs) or malware. The ideal candidate will be skilled in data scanning, malware detection/removal, and OS-level threat analysis across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Dell’s patent-pending data scanning process to validate and cleanse data, identifying and removing malicious files or payloads.
  • Conduct in-depth operating system startup reviews (Windows, Linux, Unix, Mac) to uncover and eliminate hidden persistence mechanisms left by threat actors.
  • Perform manual and automated forensic scans of system files and logs to support malware and backdoor detection.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to validate data integrity and ensure sanitized files are ready for safe restoration or use.
  • Provide documentation and reporting for each scan or analysis session, ensuring traceability and audit readiness.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity, digital forensics, or malware analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of operating system internals and startup mechanisms across Windows, Linux, Unix, and macOS.
  • Familiarity with malware detection, threat hunting, and data sanitization techniques.
  • Experience using commercial and open-source tools for malware scanning and data validation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Dell or similar enterprise data validation tools.
  • Digital forensics or incident response certifications (e.g., GCFA, GREM, CEH).
  • Background in enterprise recovery or post-incident remediation work.
