Location: Syracuse, NY 13210

Duration: 3+ Months contract (extendable)

Shift: Evening (12*3)

Pay Rate: $39.00 Travel & $31.00 Local

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking experienced Mental Health Therapy Aides to support a Bio Behavioral Health Unit. This position requires previous experience in both pediatric and psychiatric care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in patient care within acute and inpatient mental health settings.

Candidates must be flexible to work every other weekend and some holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide both direct and indirect patient care under nursing supervision

  • Perform and document vital signs, admission procedures, and assist with physical exams

  • Collect and label specimens, monitor intake/output, and transport patients as needed

  • Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and hygiene tasks

  • Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and support their emotional and psychological well-being

  • Observe and report patient responses and behavioral changes to the nursing team

  • Respond to crisis situations and implement safe, age-appropriate clinical interventions

  • Perform safety checks, help orient new patients to unit rules, and promote a safe care environment

  • Participate in unit activities and contribute to the overall management of the nursing unit

  • Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems effectively for documentation

Qualifications:

  • Current CPR Certification required

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience required; 2+ years preferred

  • Prior experience in an inpatient mental health setting preferred

  • Experience with pediatric patients and psychiatric interventions is essential

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a high-demand care environment

  • Familiarity with clinical documentation systems and EMR usage
