Job Title: Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg)
Location: New York, NY 10016
Contract Type: Contract
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 3 Days/Week (34.5 Hours/Week)
Schedule: Rotating weekends and holidays required
Pay Rate: $55 - $59 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team

  • Deliver direct bedside nursing care to pre- and post-operative patients

  • Administer medications, monitor IVs, and manage wound care

  • Operate and adjust specialized medical equipment, recording accurate measurements

  • Monitor and record patient vitals, recognizing and responding to adverse reactions

  • Assist in discharge planning and provide education to patients and families

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in patient charts and records

  • Adhere to best nursing practices, protocols, and hospital policies

Required Skills & Experience:

For Acute Facilities:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience in a large acute care hospital (within the past year)

For Post-Acute Facilities:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience in a post-acute or acute care setting (within the past year)

Clinical Proficiencies:

  • Physical assessments

  • Medication administration

  • Wound care & infection control

  • IV therapy

  • Post-operative care

  • Telemetry monitoring

  • Patient education

Preferred Experience:

  • EPIC EMR proficiency

Education & Certification Requirements:

Required:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution

  • Active New York State RN license with primary source verification

  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Completion of Med/Surg Skills Checklist and Specialty Exam

Preferred:

  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required for Queens-based roles)
