Job Title: Investment Modernization – Solution Architect
Location: Hybrid (Sacramento, CA – Ad Hoc Onsite Presence Required, Primarily Remote)
Duration: 12 Months
A government organization is seeking a highly experienced Solution Architect to lead the technical design and implementation of enterprise investment modernization initiatives. The consultant will provide strategic leadership on multi-system solutions supporting investment management functions, with a strong emphasis on architectural excellence, performance, security, and integration within a cloud-first environment.
Lead the architecture and technical design of complex, enterprise-wide investment systems.
Perform detailed system analyses, identifying inefficiencies and opportunities for performance optimization and modernization.
Develop and maintain technical design documents, workflows, data models, and architecture artifacts.
Conduct system reviews to assess scalability, performance, security, and compliance.
Recommend and evaluate appropriate tools, platforms, and frameworks in alignment with business goals.
Design and implement interfaces and scalable integration patterns across legacy and modern platforms.
Lead testing efforts including unit testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Incorporate emerging technologies, such as AI, machine learning, and cloud-native solutions, into system design strategies.
Guide internal teams via documentation, code reviews, workshops, and knowledge transfer activities.
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate business objectives into effective technical solutions.
Candidates must meet all of the following criteria:
15+ years of experience as a Solution Architect leading enterprise-wide, multi-system IT implementations.
15+ years of experience in project estimation, technical planning, and scoping across complex IT environments.
15+ years of hands-on experience designing and delivering application interfaces and enterprise solutions.
15+ years identifying and mitigating technical and integration risks related to architecture, scalability, performance, and timelines.
5+ years of experience in investment domain systems, including IBOR, OMS, and total fund portfolio processes.
Experience with SimCorp Dimensions is preferred; familiarity with Charles River, Blackrock Aladdin, or StateStreet Alpha is acceptable.
5+ years of experience in cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including use of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation and containerization tools like Docker/Kubernetes.
15+ years of strong communication and collaboration skills, with demonstrated ability to lead and work closely with enterprise architects, developers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
