Job Title: Certified Surgical Technician
Location: Multiple Locations across Upstate NY

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to join dynamic surgical teams across Upstate New York. The ideal candidate will assist surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in hospital and surgical center settings to ensure efficient, safe, and sterile surgical procedures. This role is essential for preparing operating rooms, organizing surgical tools, and supporting patient care during a variety of surgical specialties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and solutions
  • Ensure all surgical equipment is properly sterilized and in working order
  • Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating needs
  • Maintain a sterile environment throughout surgical operations
  • Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts before and after surgery
  • Handle and label specimens appropriately
  • Dispose of surgical waste and prepare the room for subsequent procedures
  • Follow hospital safety and infection control protocols
  • Communicate effectively with the surgical team and deliver patient-centered support

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA or NCCT (required)
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program

Experience:

  • 1+ year of operating room experience preferred (new graduates considered)
  • Experience in general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, or other specialties is a plus
  • Prior experience in hospital or outpatient surgical centers in Upstate NY is highly desirable

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and position patients or equipment as needed
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to handle surgical instruments and technology

Preferred:

  • BLS Certification (Basic Life Support)
  • Prior experience working in community hospitals, regional healthcare facilities, or surgical centers in Upstate NY
