Job Title: Certified Surgical Technician
Location: Atlanta, GA

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and certified Surgical Technician to join a dynamic surgical team in Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will assist surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in the operating room to ensure efficient, safe, and sterile surgical procedures. This role is essential for preparing operating rooms, organizing surgical tools, and supporting patient care during surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and solutions
  • Ensure all surgical equipment is properly sterilized and functioning
  • Assist surgeons and nurses during operations by passing instruments and anticipating needs
  • Maintain a sterile environment throughout the procedure
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure no items are retained
  • Handle specimens properly and ensure proper labeling
  • Dispose of surgical waste appropriately and prepare the room for the next procedure
  • Adhere to hospital safety and infection control protocols
  • Communicate effectively with operating room staff and provide patient-centered support

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA or NCCT
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program
  • Experience:
    • 1+ year of operating room experience preferred (new grads considered)
    • Experience in general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, or other specialties is a plus
  • Skills:
    • Excellent knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay calm under pressure
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and position patients or equipment when necessary
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to handle instruments and technology

Preferred:

  • BLS Certification (Basic Life Support)
  • Previous experience in a hospital or outpatient surgical center
