Job Title: X-Ray Technician 

Location: Astoria, NY (Postal Code: 11102)
Schedule: Monday to Friday

  • Shifts: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM and 4:00 PM – 11:30 PM

  • 7.5 hours/day, 5 days/week (37.5 hours/week)

Job Summary:

The X-Ray Technician will operate radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images of the body. This role includes preparing patients for imaging procedures, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and assisting in daily operations to maintain high-quality radiological services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish rapport with patients to ease anxiety, explain procedures, and ensure cooperation.

  • Prepare and position patients correctly; adjust equipment and exposure factors to obtain high-quality images.

  • Follow strict radiation safety guidelines including shielding, beam restriction, and exposure control.

  • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to maintain a clean and compliant work environment.

  • Process and assess radiographs; make necessary adjustments to achieve diagnostic quality.

  • Accurately document procedures and maintain detailed patient records.

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on equipment; report issues and coordinate repairs.

  • Maintain inventory of radiology supplies; track usage and restock as needed.

  • Stay up to date with CME requirements and participate in training and professional development.

  • Contribute to the overall team effort, supporting colleagues and covering responsibilities as needed.

  • Complete yearly age-specific competency training and other tasks as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist by NYS Department of Health

  • Competency in performing diagnostic procedures

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Team-oriented, dependable, and detail-focused

  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and effective clinical environment

Education & Certifications:

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology

  • Licenses Required:

    • New York State License (L.R.T.)

    • ARRT Certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
