Job Title: System Software Programmer – Consultant
Location: Columbia, SC
Duration: 12 Months
Pay Rate: $75 – $80/hour

Candidate must be a CURRENT South Carolina resident. No relocation allowed.

Daily Duties / Responsibilities:

The System Software Programmer – Consultant will lead the design, development, and implementation of data solutions aligned with the organization’s strategic goals. This role focuses on data architecture, modeling, migration, and integration, working closely with technical and business teams to develop scalable and optimized data environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a technical advisor on data solutions across various business and technology forums.
  • Lead the design and maintenance of scalable data environments, including data lakes and data warehouses.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure solutions support business needs and enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging data technologies as appropriate.
  • Develop architectural models and supporting documentation using data modeling tools.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for specific data domains.
  • Build solutions using Python, Java, Airflow, and modern data technologies within cloud-based environments.
  • Participate in hands-on coding and architecture to deliver production-ready solutions.
  • Resolve system inefficiencies and optimize performance.
  • Design reusable data frameworks to streamline future development efforts.

Required Skills:

  • 3+ years in a Data Engineer or similar technical leadership role.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with system design, Python development, and operational support.
  • 3+ years experience in solution architecture using Python and Java.
  • 2+ years experience in data modeling, integration, and cloud data services.
  • 2+ years experience working with AWS or Azure in a data engineering role.
  • 3+ years experience with SQL, data warehousing solutions, and cloud-native relational databases such as Snowflake, Athena, or Postgres.

Preferred Skills:

  • AWS or Azure certification (Cloud Practitioner or Developer).
  • Experience working in Medicaid or healthcare-related environments.
