Position Summary:

Seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive patient care through all phases of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN will monitor patient responses to medications, guide ancillary personnel, and maintain the highest standards of nursing care and patient service.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process and document assessments throughout hospitalization, including physical, psychological, and social dimensions.
  • Initiate and update individualized plans of care and communicate pertinent information to the healthcare team.
  • Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed, demonstrating leadership and clinical expertise.
  • Serve as a resource for staff orientation and ongoing education.
  • Maintain accurate and current patient records using electronic medical systems.
  • Participate in unit staff meetings and mandatory education programs.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including infection control and blood/body fluid precautions.
  • Continuously assess and address personal professional development needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism within the hospital and community settings.
  • Provide exceptional patient and family-centered care while promoting service excellence.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Active Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 6 months of hire and must be maintained.
  • Fetal Monitoring course attendance required every 2 years.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention) certification required within 3 months of hire and renewed annually.
  • Recent obstetric nursing experience (within the past 2 years) required.
  • Completion of scrub training for cesarean sections within 1 year of hire.
  • Completion of Baby-Friendly competencies within 1 year of hire.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) required.
