Job Title: Subject Matter Expert (SME) – DB2 z/OS Support
Duration: 3+ Months
Location: Remote (EST Time Zone) – Travel required for the first week only; fully remote thereafter
A leading organization is seeking an experienced DB2 z/OS Support SME to provide advanced-level support, upgrade planning, and system-level troubleshooting for DB2 on z/OS platforms. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring high performance, stability, and resilience of enterprise-level DB2 environments.
Plan, coordinate, and implement DB2 version upgrades for current and future releases
Perform expert-level troubleshooting for DB2 and z/OS systems
Tune DB2 performance, including buffer pools, storage optimization, and I/O times
Manage software maintenance and upgrades, including CA tools
Execute contingency recovery and system-level backup & recovery strategies
Resolve and monitor system-level DB2 performance issues
Provide technical assistance across various teams/agencies with DB2-related challenges
Collaborate with IBM to open and resolve product support cases
Act swiftly to resolve outages and minimize system downtime
Extensive experience with DB2 and z/OS systems
Proficiency in the following tools and environments:
QMF (Versions 7–13)
IBM DB2 Tools (up to V13.10)
IBM Data Studio
Platinum Tools / Omegamon for DB2
CA Insight, Detector, and other CA DB2 Tools
COBOL
Candidate must be available to travel onsite for the first week of onboarding
Work is conducted in the Eastern Time Zone
Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential
