Job Title: Patient Care Associate

Location: New York, NY 10019
Shift: Night Shift | 11:00 PM – 7:15 AM | 5 Days/Week + Every Other Weekend
Pay Rate: $20/hour
Floating Requirement: Required to float to all Med-Surg units

Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Patient Care Associate to support nursing and clinical teams across multiple Med-Surg units during night shifts. The PCA plays a vital role in delivering patient-focused care, assisting with daily living activities, performing clinical tasks, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record and document vital signs, intake/output, and pain levels

  • Assist with activities of daily living: feeding, bathing, oral care, toileting, ambulation

  • Support dietary tasks including tray delivery, patient menu completion, and supplement preparation

  • Perform clinical procedures including:

    • Specimen collection, venipuncture, EKGs

    • Application of compression devices

    • Post-mortem care

  • Maintain patient safety through close observation and purposeful rounding

  • Set up and assist with procedures as directed by the RN

  • Ensure rooms are tidy: remove trash, strip beds, and support environmental cleanliness

  • Provide comfort and support to patients and their families

  • Answer call bells and phones, relay messages, and interact with visitors

  • Perform emergency clean-up, transport, and discharge preparations

  • Maintain supply levels and operate equipment (e.g., pneumatic tube system)

  • Respect cultural and individual diversity in patient care

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • AHA HeartSaver or BLS Certification – Required

  • Completion of Patient Care Associate Orientation (if applicable)

  • 3–9 months of healthcare or direct patient care experience – Preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, exercise judgment, and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment

  • Physical stamina to perform clinical duties and lift or transport patients as needed
