Position Summary:
Seeking qualified Registered Nurses to provide care within a secure correctional facility in Malone, NY. Nurses will manage chronic and urgent healthcare needs of incarcerated individuals, administer medications, assist with medical emergencies, and perform routine assessments. This position is part of a formal state-run RFQ process and involves mid-shift coverage including weekend rotations.
Administer medications including 1:1, Insulin, MAT, Ensure, and other ordered therapies
Maintain accurate medication counts and document all shift activities in the medical log
Conduct finger-stick glucose checks and follow MD orders for chronic condition management
Respond to emergency sick calls for incarcerated individuals and visitors
Support emergency protocols, including blood exposure responses and Tele-med sessions
Assist in SHU (Special Housing Unit) admissions and incoming draft screenings
Prepare and document physical assessments, pre-op evaluations, and pre-anesthesia forms
Coordinate medical, dental, and psychiatric referrals and appointments
Input data into the FHS1 system, manage lab/OMH/MD appointments
Stock medication rooms and handle chart preparation for scheduled procedures
Complete comprehensive medical summaries for parole/release and ensure Narcan training documentation is in place
Work in collaboration with security, Nurse Administrator, and Facility MD
Active NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
Current CPR certification
Minimum of 1 year nursing experience (correctional or acute care preferred)
Ability to work independently in a high-security setting
Strong clinical documentation and communication skills
Must be available for in-person interview if selected after bid review
This is an RFQ (Request for Quote) position through the State of New York. Award is not guaranteed until the bid is accepted by the state.
