Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgical Day Care / PACU / Pre-Op
Location: Hyannis, MA
Assignment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Variable, including on-call responsibilities for off-shifts, weekends, and holidays

Experience Required:

  • Surgical Day Care (SDC), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and Pre-Op nursing experience

  • Pediatric nursing experience

  • ICU or Critical Care experience

  • Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system

  • Travel nursing experience preferred

Certifications Required:

  • Current and unrestricted RN license in Massachusetts

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – must obtain within 6 months of hire and maintain

  • Successful completion of Pharmacology Exam and Basic Arrhythmia Program or challenge exam

Purpose of Position:

To provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in a fast-paced perioperative setting. The RN will apply the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and adherence to facility policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for pre- and post-operative patients

  2. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments and care plans

  3. Monitor and respond to patients’ reactions to medications and procedures

  4. Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team

  5. Assume the role of charge nurse as needed

  6. Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to team members and new staff

  7. Demonstrate proficiency with computerized documentation and nursing informatics

  8. Attend required staff meetings, educational programs, and maintain continuing education requirements

  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adherence to safety and infection control protocols

  10. Maintain professional development and competencies specific to the age and needs of patient populations served

  11. Represent the facility positively while maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism

  12. Provide excellent service to patients, families, and coworkers

  13. Perform additional related duties as assigned by leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Prior experience in cardiac monitoring, IV insertion, ventilator care, and hemodynamic monitoring

  • Recent PACU or SDC experience within the last 5 years

  • Willingness to participate in hospital committees and professional development programs
