Position: Patient Coordinator
Location: New York City, NY 10003
Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Duration: 3 Months (with possible extension)

Pay Rate: $20/hour 

Job Summary:

A leading healthcare facility in New York City is seeking a Patient Services Representative (Patient Coordinator) to support front-office operations in an ambulatory care setting. This role involves patient registration, scheduling, billing, and customer service duties to ensure a smooth and positive experience for patients and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical/Technical/Service Tasks:

  • Schedule patient appointments using IDX; manage ancillary service scheduling

  • Make reminder and no-show follow-up calls; print and confirm daily schedules

  • Register patients and capture clinical, demographic, and financial data in Eagle and IDX systems

  • Collect patient payments (co-pays, hospital charges, etc.) and reconcile daily deposits

  • Understand and apply New York State Third-Party Payor eligibility and billing requirements

  • Enter CPT-4 and ICD9-CM codes accurately

  • Reconcile patient charges and escalate complex billing issues as needed

  • Process managed care referrals, assist with check-ins, forms, and transport arrangements

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams

  • Monitor and order clerical supplies and equipment

Administrative/Clerical Support:

  • Manage patient flow in the waiting area

  • Assist with training and orientation of new or float staff

  • Perform clerical tasks: filing, mail distribution, batching forms, and data entry

  • Deliver courteous and professional customer service per facility standards

  • Assist with special projects or duties assigned by the supervisor

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology

  • Basic CPT-4 and ICD9-CM coding familiarity

  • Typing speed of 25–35 WPM with high accuracy

  • Experience conducting and documenting financial interviews

  • Excellent clerical skills, organization, and multitasking abilities

  • Understanding of managed care and insurance protocols

  • Ability to work with diverse populations with empathy and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a healthcare or clinical environment

  • Familiarity with Eagle and IDX systems

  • Bilingual capabilities (a plus, not required)

Work Environment:

  • Outpatient/ambulatory care setting

  • Fast-paced with emphasis on patient communication and administrative efficiency
