Job Title: ADABAS Natural Programmer
Location: Columbia, SC
Duration: 12 Months

Overview:

A government agency in Columbia, SC is seeking a highly experienced ADABAS Natural Programmer for a 12-month contract. This position involves a combination of production support and software development focused on Retirement Claims and Financial Services systems. Development will be done using the NaturalONE/Eclipse environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform application development using Natural programming within an ADABAS environment

  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to gather and implement business requirements

  • Provide production support and system enhancements for financial and retirement systems

  • Participate in the full software development life cycle: design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance

  • Mentor and guide up to three permanent staff members through onsite instruction

  • Modify, test, and deploy updates to existing systems

  • Maintain technical documentation as required

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in Natural programming and ADABAS database development

  • Experience with NaturalONE/Eclipse development environment

  • Familiarity with payroll, financial systems, or accounting processes

  • Strong production support and issue troubleshooting skills

  • Experience mentoring or training junior staff

  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders remotely

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with JCL, batch and online processing

  • Ability to write and maintain clear technical documentation

  • Familiarity with version control systems and development best practices

  • Exposure to integrating legacy systems with modern platforms

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred

  • Equivalent industry experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
