Seeking a qualified and flexible Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RN to join the nursing float pool within a short-term acute care hospital. The RN will float between med/surg telemetry units as needed and should be confident in managing a typical med/surg ratio with telemetry monitoring responsibilities. Prior Epic charting experience is strongly preferred, and telemetry experience is required.
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult med/surg and telemetry patients
Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and manage telemetry alarms and interventions
Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams and support staff to ensure safe and effective patient care
Float between units within scope of practice based on facility needs
Maintain accurate records in the Epic charting system
Participate in admissions, discharges, and patient assessments
RN Ratios:
Days/Evenings: 5:1
Nights: Typically 6:1 (occasional 7:1 during high census)
Support Staff Includes:
Patient Care Technicians (vitals, ADLs, glucose checks, EKGs)
In-house phlebotomy team (nurses handle PICC and central line draws)
Active RN license in New York (unencumbered)
Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
BLS certification required
Telemetry skills required
Experience with Epic preferred (mandatory for first-time U.S. travelers)
Must be willing to float within scope to like units
Strong communication, critical thinking, and adaptability skills
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
On-call Requirement: None
Locals: Not accepted (must live 75+ miles from facility)
RTO Restrictions: Limited to 1 week preferred
