OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

Operates computerized tomography equipment to produce films of designated portions of the human body for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Collects pertinent medical information and reviews physician's order to identify reason for examination and potential contraindications.
  •  Explains procedure to patient and ensures consent form is signed if required for examination.
  •  Positions patient, administers oral or intravenous contrast as required. Monitors patient reaction and responds to adverse reactions with emergency procedures as necessary.
  •  Selects equipment parameters and logs pertinent information.
  •  Performs scanning procedure. Modifies parameters as required to improve visualization of desired anatomy.
  •  May assist physician with biopsy and aspiration procedures, practicing sterile technique as required. Sets up sterile trays with all supplies and instruments required for procedures. .
  •  Organizes images, performs the scan and transfers exam to PACS system.
  •  Provides assistance with transportation of patients to and from Emergency Room and Inpatient areas.
  •  Responsible for ensuring communication to radiologist regarding Acute Stroke patients and certifying compliance with Acute Stroke protocols.
  • Enters patient charges into computer.
  • Performs minor maintenance and repairs on Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment. Refers other problems to the Computerized Tomography (CT) Supervisor.
  • Assists in orienting and training personnel as necessary.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‐accident to Manager..
