Shifts: Variable start times – 7:00 AM, 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, or 9:30 AM 

 

Position Overview: 

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mammography Technologist for a 13-week travel contract assignment in Hyannis, Massachusetts. The technologist will be responsible for performing mammographic and bone density (DEXA) imaging, following established safety and quality standards. This role plays a vital part in early detection of breast disease and osteoporosis, directly contributing to patient health outcomes. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Operate mammography and stereotactic equipment in compliance with MQSA and ACR standards 
  • Prepare exam rooms, review requisitions and prior reports/images to ensure appropriate imaging is performed 
  • Educate patients on procedures, results process, and clarify medical history as needed 
  • Refer patients to providers when breast symptoms or diagnostic concerns are identified 
  • Perform mammographic and stereotactic imaging procedures using safe, precise techniques 
  • Conduct DEXA scans including spine, hip, and forearm based on clinical need 
  • Complete and document daily/weekly/monthly quality control tests for all equipment 
  • Manage and update patient data in PACS and radiology information systems 
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other medical staff to ensure high-quality, timely imaging 
  • Monitor and report equipment issues and ensure timely service and repair 
  • Maintain inventory, supplies, and proper record-keeping in accordance with regulatory standards 
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and meet CEU requirements as mandated by ARRT and Massachusetts state licensure 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology program 
  • ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology and Mammography 
  • Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist license with Mammography endorsement 
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification 
  • Proficiency in 3D mammography required 
  • Prior experience performing DEXA scans preferred; if not, must become proficient within 6 months of hire 
  • Working knowledge of PACS, radiation safety, and quality control standards 
  • Excellent communication, organization, and patient care skills
