Job Title: Registered Nurse – Critical Care, Pediatric ICU (Night Shift)

Location: Syracuse, NY

Position Type: Full-Time, Night Shift (Every other weekend and some holidays required)

Job Summary:

We are seeking experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team for the night shift. This role is ideal for dedicated professionals with a strong background in critical pediatric care at Level 1 or Level 2 trauma centers. The PICU RN will be responsible for delivering high-quality, family-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients.

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes for patients and their families.

  • Administer medications, operate critical care equipment, and respond to emergencies swiftly and effectively.

  • Document care accurately using EPIC Electronic Medical Records (preferred).

  • Participate in shift handoffs, care conferences, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

  • Adhere to all hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Current New York State RN license in good standing.

  • BLS certification (American Heart Association); must be able to be recertified.

  • Minimum of 3 years of recent PICU experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center (within the last 2 years).

  • Experience with EPIC EMR strongly preferred.

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • No history of license or certification suspension or professional liability claims.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Must pass pre-employment health screening, drug screening, and criminal background check.

Preferred Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience working in travel or per diem roles in similarly sized acute care settings.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly in a high-acuity environment with minimal supervision.

Work Schedule:

  • Night shifts with rotating weekends and some holidays.

  • 12-hour shifts with shift differentials as applicable.
