Job Title: Registered Nurse – Critical Care, Pediatric ICU (Night Shift)
Location: Syracuse, NY
Position Type: Full-Time, Night Shift (Every other weekend and some holidays required)
We are seeking experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team for the night shift. This role is ideal for dedicated professionals with a strong background in critical pediatric care at Level 1 or Level 2 trauma centers. The PICU RN will be responsible for delivering high-quality, family-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients in a fast-paced environment.
Deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes for patients and their families.
Administer medications, operate critical care equipment, and respond to emergencies swiftly and effectively.
Document care accurately using EPIC Electronic Medical Records (preferred).
Participate in shift handoffs, care conferences, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Adhere to all hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Current New York State RN license in good standing.
BLS certification (American Heart Association); must be able to be recertified.
Minimum of 3 years of recent PICU experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center (within the last 2 years).
Experience with EPIC EMR strongly preferred.
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
No history of license or certification suspension or professional liability claims.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must pass pre-employment health screening, drug screening, and criminal background check.
Experience working in travel or per diem roles in similarly sized acute care settings.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly in a high-acuity environment with minimal supervision.
Night shifts with rotating weekends and some holidays.
12-hour shifts with shift differentials as applicable.
