Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join a busy outpatient team in Syracuse, NY. This contract position is ideal for an experienced nurse with a strong clinical background and administrative capabilities. The role offers a consistent weekday schedule and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient-centered care in an outpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on clinical care and support with minimal supervision

  • Greet and prepare patients for exams and procedures; escort them to and from exam rooms

  • Assist physicians during medical exams and procedures such as pap smears and injections

  • Accurately record vital signs and other clinical information

  • Set up procedure trays and ensure exam rooms are maintained in a clean and organized manner

  • Administer approved treatments and injections under RN or provider supervision

  • Schedule patient appointments and assist with front-desk administrative tasks

  • Handle insurance authorization processes (e.g., for physical therapy, MRIs, CTs, surgeries)

  • Obtain referrals and ensure patient charts and records are updated and organized

  • Use Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems to input, retrieve, and update patient information

  • Monitor and report patient responses to treatments and participate in care planning

Qualifications:

  • Active LPN license in the state of New York

  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in an outpatient or ambulatory setting

  • Proficient in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills

  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively within a healthcare team

  • Knowledge of insurance verification and authorization procedures preferred
