Job Title: Finance Technician – Accounting

Job Type: Contract (3 Months – Possible Extension)
Work Arrangement: On-site

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Finance Technician – Accounting for a 3-month on-site contract assignment in Hillsboro, OR. The successful candidate will support key accounting functions, including financial data entry, reconciliation, billing, and customer service. This role requires a solid foundation in bookkeeping and financial recordkeeping, as well as the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, validate, and process a variety of financial documents

  • Post financial data and update customer/vendor accounts

  • Enter data into financial systems and verify for accuracy

  • Provide support and guidance to internal and external customers

  • Research and reconcile account discrepancies; compile reports

  • Generate billing statements, vendor documents, and bank deposits

  • Audit purchasing card transactions and maintain related records

  • Manage vendor data and generate annual 1099 forms

  • Reconcile citywide daily deposits and prepare monthly reports

  • Coordinate the production of biennial budget materials (print and online)

  • Maintain and retain records according to policy

  • Perform additional administrative tasks and related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Minimum 3 years of financial support or accounting-related experience

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in financial recordkeeping and reporting principles

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

  • Skilled in data entry, file management, and report preparation

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Comfortable working with diverse populations and committed to equity and inclusion

  • Ability to provide high-quality customer service

  • Capable of interpreting and applying applicable laws and financial procedures

  • Proficient with modern office technology, including financial software and Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish

  • Experience mentoring or training staff on financial systems

  • Familiarity with municipal budget processes or public sector finance
