Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Columbia, SC
Shift: Night Shift – 3x12-Hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 36 Hours/Week, 6 Weekend Shifts per 6-Week Schedule


Job Summary:

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care on the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This night shift role requires strong clinical skills and certifications to care for patients needing telemetry and advanced monitoring.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care in a PCU setting, monitoring telemetry patients closely.

  • Administer medications and treatments safely, including passing medication competency tests.

  • Utilize electronic charting systems (Pyxis) for accurate documentation.

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.

  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

  • Float to other units or campuses as needed based on competencies and facility requirements.


Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.

  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience; first-time travel nurses preferred to have at least 3 years.

  • Required certifications: AHA ACLS, BCLS, NIH Stroke Scale, Telemetry Certification.

  • Successful completion of medication competency test.

  • Ability to work night shifts (7 PM – 7:30 AM), including weekends (6 shifts every 6 weeks).

  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills.

  • Must be willing and able to float as per facility policy.


Additional Details:

  • Staff-to-patient ratio: 4:1 (may flex to 5:1 as needed)

  • Average daily census: Approximately 26 beds

  • Guaranteed hours: 36 per week, facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
