Job Title: DB2 z/OS Support Specialist
Location: Albany, NY (Onsite for First Week; Remote Thereafter)
Duration: 3 Months (Tentative Contract)

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced DB2 z/OS Support to assist with enterprise-level DB2 version upgrades, performance tuning, and system-level troubleshooting. This short-term contract role involves both onsite (initial week in Albany, NY) and remote work, supporting mission-critical systems across multiple agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead planning, coordination, and implementation of DB2 version upgrades for current and upcoming releases

• Perform performance tuning of DB2 systems (buffer pools, storage, I/O times)

• Manage software maintenance and upgrades, including CA tools and utilities

• Support contingency planning, system backup, and recovery processes

• Monitor and resolve DB2 system-level performance issues

• Provide expert-level troubleshooting for DB2 and z/OS environments

• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve DB2-related issues and outages

• Open and manage cases with IBM to address product-specific problems

Required Technical Skills:

• Expertise in DB2 on z/OS systems

• Proficiency with:

  • QMF (v7 through v13)

  • IBM DB2 Tools (up to V13.1.0)

  • IBM Data Studio

  • Platinum Tools / Omegamon for DB2

  • CA Insight, CA Detector, and other DB2-related CA tools

  • COBOL
