Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Manahawkin, NJ
Shift: 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM | 5x8 Schedule (40 hours/week)

Compensation: $32 – $37 per hour (Negotiable based on experience)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join a healthcare facility in Manahawkin, NJ. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and readiness of surgical instruments and medical equipment through proper cleaning, disinfection, processing, and sterilization. The technician will also support the Operating Room by preparing and delivering case carts according to scheduled procedures and team preferences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment per established protocols.

  • Operate sterilization equipment (Steam, ETO, Sterrad, Steris) and perform necessary tests including biological indicators and Bowie-Dick tests.

  • Maintain accurate sterilization records and ensure documentation of chemical integrators and computerized printouts.

  • Utilize computerized count sheets to prepare and verify surgical trays.

  • Assemble and distribute case carts to support scheduled surgeries.

  • Communicate with OR staff regarding any missing or incomplete instrumentation or supplies.

  • Follow universal precautions and proper use of PPE at all times.

  • Lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and push/pull a minimum of 60 lbs.; standing required throughout shift.

  • Adhere to organizational protocols and demonstrate professional behavior.

Required Experience and Certification:

  • Minimum 1 year of sterile processing experience in an acute care setting.

  • National Certification: CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution).

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Central Processing course or equivalent on-the-job training.

  • Solid understanding of sterilization methods and infection control.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
