Location: New York, NY 10019
Shift: 12-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 9:00 PM) on Sunday, Thursday, and Friday only
Duration: 2-month contract (high potential for extension)

Overview:
A respected healthcare organization in New York City is seeking a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) to provide comprehensive support and counseling services to patients and families. This position is ideal for a compassionate and resourceful professional experienced in navigating complex social, emotional, and health-related issues within a clinical setting.

Education Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution

  • LMSW license required

Key Skills:

  • Working knowledge of social work principles and community resources related to health, illness, and disability

  • Prior experience (6–12 months) in a healthcare or hospital setting preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals during emotionally sensitive situations

  • Analytical ability to assess patient needs, develop treatment plans, and provide effective counseling

  • Understanding of patient population dynamics, including socioeconomic and behavioral factors

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct social work services, including assessments and individual/group counseling

  • Guide patients and families to appropriate community resources for financial aid, counseling, rehabilitation, and support services

  • Assist with discharge planning and care coordination for patients needing ongoing or specialized care

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address social, emotional, and environmental issues impacting treatment

  • Engage in quality improvement and performance initiatives

  • Educate and mentor students, residents, and allied health professionals in social work practices

  • Maintain professional relationships with community agencies and stay current on available services and regulations

  • Document assessments, plans, and interventions clearly and accurately in the patient’s medical record

  • Participate in departmental meetings and ongoing professional development activities
