Job Title: Certified Surgical Technician
Location: New York, NY 10003
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week | 7.5 hours per day | 5 days per week
Shift: 07:00 AM – 5:30 PM, four days a week (with floating to Perioperative as required)
Certifications Required: BLS or HeartSaver
Experience Required: At least 5 years of Certified Surgical Technician (CST) experience preferred

Job Summary: A reputable healthcare institution is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to provide surgical assistance to residents and attending clinicians within an oral surgery clinic and ambulatory dental OR/procedure room. The role involves high-level chairside support, surgical prep, and adherence to infection control and clinical protocols.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Escort patients to surgical chairs, screen them pre-operatively, and verify medical records for completeness (including notes, PHM, lab results, etc.).

  • Provide continuous four-handed surgical assistance to clinicians during procedures.

  • Ensure all surfaces and equipment (countertops, mayo stands, etc.) are properly cleaned and disinfected before setup.

  • Prepare and organize sterile surgical instruments, trays, and equipment for each procedure.

  • Take radiographs as needed—pre-, intra-, or post-operatively.

  • Monitor and assist patients during procedures, including suctioning, passing instruments, and administering medications under direction.

  • Restock supplies, manage inventory, and order additional medical/surgical items as necessary.

  • Break down operatory after procedures: remove instruments, dispose of waste appropriately, and clean all used areas.

  • Demonstrate readiness and appropriate response in emergency situations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Certification: Dental Assistant Certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant surgical assistance experience; 5 years preferred.

  • Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Education: Associate’s Degree required.
