Contract Duration: 60 Days
Shift: Day shifts only (Monday–Friday), with required availability for all rotating shifts: 7am–3pm, 8am–4pm, 9am–5pm, or 10am–6pm
Hours: 37.5 per week (7.5 hours/day)

Position Summary:

A dynamic outpatient clinic is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant I to join the team on a short-term contract basis. The ideal candidate must be a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant with prior OBGYN experience and flexibility to work varying day shifts. The Medical Assistant will support clinical operations, provide direct patient care, and perform a variety of administrative and technical tasks.

Responsibilities:

Clinical & Technical Duties:

  • Perform vital signs, medical history, medication, and allergy documentation

  • Conduct EKGs, PFTs, lab testing, and audiometry as ordered

  • Perform quality control checks and adhere to laboratory/CLIA guidelines

  • Assist with patient room admissions and ensure examination rooms are clean and stocked

  • Perform administrative lab functions (e.g., log documentation, specimen handling)

Administrative & Front Desk Support:

  • Greet and register patients courteously and accurately

  • Update insurance and patient information in electronic systems

  • Schedule appointments and retrieve medical records/lab results

  • Process HMO referrals and discharge paperwork as per protocols

  • Manage front desk operations including handling phone calls and balancing ledger sheets

Communication & Professionalism:

  • Maintain a courteous, respectful attitude with patients and colleagues

  • Communicate patient emergencies to physicians immediately

  • Deliver test results under physician direction

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • National CMA certification (required)

  • BLS certification (required)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an outpatient clinical setting

  • OBGYN experience is required

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Preferred Skills:

  • EMR/EHR experience

  • Familiarity with insurance verification and referral processes

  • Excellent phone etiquette and patient service skills
